You’re Enough

I find it so interesting how these two words can be the most difficult to believe. If I’m open and transparent with you, it has been one of my biggest insecurities. Being enough can be unnecessarily complicated. While doing my work, there were two things that stood out to me.

  1. Sometimes we do things that no one asked us to

We can work so hard to “be enough” but don’t really have a good reason for why we work so hard. There are times when there is an expectation to do certain things, but are never asked to. It can’t hurt to ask yourself why you feel the need to do that in the first place.

  1. You have to know your worth

We don’t always take into consideration just how valuable we are. When you think about how out of all the people in the world, your parents met and created you (Keeping in mind that there are over 8 Billion people in the world.). Then on top of that, you’re the only you there is. You have a special combination of gifts/skills/talents that only you have. You offer something to the world that only you can. With all that being said, why don’t we think more highly of ourself?

As part of my healing I decided in 2020 that I wanted to get a tattoo that reminded me that I’m enough. I ended up getting the phrase, “You’re Enough Because You’ve Always Been.” I got it because of a conference I went to, one of the speakers said a similar phrase and it felt like the perfect saying.

Believing that we are truly enough can be a journey filled with challenges, self-reflection, and growth. It's fascinating how such a simple concept can be one of the most difficult to embrace. For many of us, the idea of being "enough" can become a source of insecurity, leading us to question our value and worth.

In the pursuit of being enough, we often find ourselves engaging in actions and behaviors that go beyond what is expected of us. We work tirelessly, striving to meet standards that may not even be our own. It's important to pause and reflect on why we push ourselves so hard and whether these efforts are truly fulfilling.

Understanding our worth is a crucial step in recognizing our uniqueness and value in the world. Each of us is a one-of-a-kind individual, with a distinct set of talents, skills, and qualities to offer. Despite being just one among billions, the combination that makes you who you are is irreplaceable and invaluable. It's essential to acknowledge and appreciate the special qualities that make you, you.

So, the next time you find yourself doubting your worth or struggling to believe that you are enough, remember that you are a remarkable individual with a unique contribution to make. Embrace your authenticity, celebrate your strengths, and always remind yourself that you are, indeed, enough.
