It’s ok to be a priority

When was the last you did this...Asking for a friend?

What does the phrase mean to make yourself a priority? Do you find yourself feeling guilty because you took time out for yourself?

Making yourself a priority means recognizing your own needs, desires, and well-being as important and deserving of attention. It involves taking the time to care for yourself, holistically, in order to maintain a healthy balance in your life. It's not selfish to prioritize yourself; in fact, it's necessary for personal growth and overall happiness.

If you find yourself feeling guilty for taking time out for yourself, it's important to remember that self-care is a crucial aspect of maintaining your overall well-being. I would challenge you to really and sit and think about why and where you got these ideas from. I would also encourage you to think about why you keep holding on to them.

By prioritizing yourself, you are better equipped to handle the various challenges and responsibilities in your life. It's perfectly okay to set boundaries and make time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Remember, you deserve to be happy and healthy, and taking care of yourself is a vital part of that journey.

Taking time for self-care can sometimes feel like a luxury, but in reality, it's a necessity. When you make yourself a priority, you're acknowledging that your mental, emotional, and physical health matter. This shift in mindset can transform how you interact with the world, allowing you to show up more fully for others because you're no longer running on empty.

To begin prioritizing yourself, start by identifying what genuinely brings you joy and fulfillment. It might be as simple as reading a book, going for a walk, or spending time with loved ones. Once you know what nourishes your soul, incorporate these activities into your routine, setting aside dedicated time each week or even each day.

Remember, it's about balance, better yet harmony. I say this because sometimes things aren’t going to balance out, but need to work in tandem. By nurturing yourself, you create a solid foundation from which you can give more effectively to others. Embrace this practice without guilt, knowing that a well-cared-for you can bring more light and positivity into the lives of those around you. So, be kind to yourself, and let self-care become a natural part of your life, a gesture of love towards yourself.
